The first Narou web novel, the ones from a self-publishing amateur site with no editor, adapted by White Fox was Re:Zero all the way back to 2016, and they've had a deluge of them adapted after Arifureta (another Narou web novel) in 2019, which was over 5 years before being bought by AlphaPolis, so trying to act like these are related is just being ignorant of the studio's history.

I think there's a difference between Light Novels you're not realizing
Light Novels that actually started as one from the get go do go through approval and editorial process as barriers of entry which is why there was so much good shit before with LNs like Toradora,Full Metal Panic,Slayers,Monogatari,Spice and Wolf,Raildex,Read or Die,Baccano,86,Durarara,Kino's Journey and Shana as examples of how good the medium was without web novel adaptations as how good the medium once was
Web Novels on the other hand have no barrier of entry besides a computer connection and no editorial at all which means the full amateur writing is on display
There's some good ones but they're the ones that caused stupid long summary names to be common in anime plus it leds to a lot of uninteresting shit like Another World with Ny Smartphone and that Vending Machine one
Amateur Web Novel adaptations did a lot of damage to both LNs and anime and I won't stop thinking that

Looks like no animals are going to get out alive in this one! 🤣

>White Fox was gonna make them deep into the mines of adapting endless amateur web novels and nothing else
White Fox has been doing almost nothing but light novel adaptations since 2016, I have no idea what you're trying to imply here.

@nachomaxo1 but light novels are edited form of web novels. Sometimes there are big differences between them, it depends on the light novel label amd author.
I haven't read this light novel but I heard good things about it

@nachomaxo1 Be honest. Battle manga are held to the lowest standard storytelling wise. Especially any Jump affiliated work. If it has hype + aura and cool action and marketable designs that's enough for them and battle shonen fans.

Also light novels once they go into print do go through vetting processes. Not to say there aren't bad ones but it takes way more effort to write a novel than to write a battle manga.

There are a few exceptions of good battle manga though but still.

People are obsessed with battle shonen because it's nostalgic and comforting, not serious storytelling.

We'll see if this particular work is good but the writer's other novel was praised a lot

@nachomaxo1

The producer seems to be King Records and the publisher of this IP is Micro Magazine, here AlphaPolis has nothing to do.
But I do agree with your point. Tbh I am surprised that White Fox is still not working on any AlphaPolis IPs lol....

@EtherLux
It's better written and more interesting than this since it's gone through the traditional manga publishing route which has a chance of you providing a pilot chapter and either get rejected and being ordered to rework it
And even if approved right off the bat , there's still editors helping in making be up to a professional standard
All of that never happens in the web novel adaptation sphere

Oct 9, 3:32 AM by nachomaxo1

@nachomaxo1 but then there's also endless battle manga slop

Oct 9, 3:09 AM by EtherLux

Another premise like Berserk of Gluttony and Arifureta... lmao

I knew Alphapolis purchasing White Fox was gonna make them deep into the mines of adapting endless amateur web novels and nothing else
It's so sad how amateur web novels became the most milked source because of the obvious endless nature of them because of the barrier of entry that's just an internet connection and nothing else out here and making everything for the worse
